The Air Warriorl Arjan Singh Bids Final Goodbye

It was rather a sad evening when news of the demise of the first and the only air Marshall of the IAF, Sardar Arjan Singh shocked the entire nation. The Padma Vibhushan awardee took his last breath due to a cardiac arrest on 16th of September 2017 at 7.47 p.m. He was 98. The soldier was cremated on Monday with full state honors that included the presence of all the top-notch military and civil dignitaries.

According to the reports, the honorable PM Narendra Modi drove straight to the Marshal’s residence after a daylong visit to Gujarat to pay his tribute. Other big names of the NDA government included the Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman along with the three service Chiefs including Air Chief Marshal BS Dhanoa, General Bipin Rawat and Admiral Sunil Lamba who laid wreaths to the mortal remains of Arjan Singh at the Brar Chowk in the Delhi Cantonment area.
The former lieutenant governor of Delhi was the only one to be promoted to a five-star rank in the Indian Air force, which itself is a pride in itself. As stated by the former Vice Chief of IAF, “His contribution to the Indian Air Force is monumental to the least. The IAF grew with him. He was epitome of military leadership in classical sense and it is, therefore, not surprising that he was honored with the rank of Air Force Marshal.” The brave heart’s last rites was a grandeur as it marked the beginning of the 17-gun salute followed by a fly-past of IAF’s Sukhoi-30 fighter jets as a tribute to one of nations true patriot.

Singh’s Aura was much more than Just Being a Soldier
Not many of us are aware of the fact that Singh sold off his land and donated the money from it to support all the retired Air Force personnel as a gesture from him to them. His decision making and qualities have led India to win several wars including the one in 1965 and then in 1971. Moreover, his autobiography, written by Rupendra Singh depicts all the life events that he, as one of the greatest leaders of our country achieved during his tenure as Chief Air Marshal. We shouldn’t be surprised by his benevolent nature for taking up social responsibilities for the mother nation time and again.

Is Media Biased?

Although, there was a considerable coverage of Singh’s funeral on the national television channels, other top media companies didn’t prove to be fair enough on their part. Considering the grandeur of the legendary Air Chief Marshal and the distinguished Flying Cross awardee, it was observed that media was as usual busy increasing their TRPs on the much talked about news controversy about baba Ram Rahim and Honey Preet, which clearly indicates their biased working style and that nothing matters more than to promote their channels with meaningless news. The nation has lost a great hero for which no words will be enough to compensate his demise. Not only was Arjan Singh a fearless pilot but had been one of the most influential persons on the globe who spread his knowledge about air power and applied it at the same time to achieve success in a wide spectrum of areas.

It surely makes sense to give his brave souls a big salute and all due respect for all the achievements he as a soldier made during his tenure.

Actually, Vinay is a writer by chance and writing is one of his passion. He love to pen down his thoughts in the form of blogs/articles & forums. He is a poet too :) Despite having a tough life, he is also passionate about the social relationship and he loves to interact with the new crowd across the globe.
